Registered motor vehicles (tagged) do not have to be listed with the County Assessor in January of each year. Registering a new motor vehicle or renewing a current registration with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles constitutes a listing for property taxes. All multi-year tagged trailers and IRP plated trucks must be listed as personal property annually. Property taxes are not included in the fees charged at the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles for trailers or trucks registered with these types of license plates.
