Reeds Gold Mine/Rocky River Vineyard

September 21, 2022 | 8:30am-5:30pm

$45 Per Person, Register/Cancel by September 7, 2022

Reed Gold Mine is the site of the first documented gold find in the US. From this discovery, gold mining spread gradually to nearby counties and eventually into other southern states. The estimated value of gold recovered reached over one million dollars in a year. NC led the nation in gold production until 1848, when it was eclipsed by the great rush to California. After lunch we will then visit Rocky River Vineyard. The vineyard is a relaxed, yet sophisticated and peaceful setting to enjoy a glass of award-winning wine, while taking in the beautiful panoramic view of the vines. The wine ranges in flavor from a sweet, red or white muscadine wine to classic, dry varietals such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Merlot blend, among others..
